NSW: WorkersComp recommendations to be handed to governor
Key recommendations into the New South Wales workers' compensation reforms are expected
to be handed down tomorrow, following three months of public consultation.
The report from Justice TERRY SHEAHAN will be costed before Industrial Relations Minister
JOHN DELLA BOSCA puts the controversial legislation back to parliament within two weeks.
But the government could be faced with more strife from unions, with the peak union
group demanding further public consultation before the reforms go to parliament.
The worker's compensation reforms led to union uproar and resulted in a blockade of
parliament house in May.
The government wants to reform the workers' compensation scheme to stem a $2.2 billion
debt that it claimed was growing by $1 million a day.
