2MBIT/S NET SPEED INTRODUCED BY PIPEX

Pipex, the commercial Internet service provider in the UK owned by Unipalm Plc, is now offering corporate customers 2Mbit/s Internet access. Pipex, who says that it handles nearly 75% of all UK corporate connections, says that customer demand prompted it to set up the service because many of its 600 clients are finding out that 64kbit/s starter-circuits become too slow and bandwidth is soon an important consideration. David Mooring, marketing consultant at Pipex, said: "We have been talking for some time to a number of our existing and prospective enthusiasm has been extremely encouraging. Companies who are serious about using the Internet as a strategic business tool are understandably anxious to have the appropriate bandwidth in place well ahead of demand from their customers."
