SA: Downer says the move to missile defence is understandable

ADELAIDE, Feb 27 AAP - It was understandable for countries to consider developing missiledefence systems if they faced threats from rogue states, Foreign Minister Alexander Downersaid today.

Mr Downer said how Australia might develop any such defence system was a matter fordefence officials.

"But if rogue states are going to develop missile systems it's understandable thatcountries would want to have the capacity to destroy them before they kill people," hesaid.
